GOOD STUDY HABITS

We all know that good study habits are essential to educational success. We probably can diminish academic dishonesty by promoting good study habits among students, and letting the students know that how very important is it to inculcate good study habits.

The key to grooming an effective and sincere student is guiding them to study smarter. An hour or two of studying a day is usually sufficient to make it through school with good grades.

Some guidelines for helping your child to study smart and achieve success.

  • Guide your child to study at periodic intervals. Studying too much at a time can restrict the capacity of the brain to remember things. Spacing the work over shorter periods of time and taking short breaks will restore mental energy.
  • Help your child to have a planned time table for studying. It can be completing assigned reading, working on a paper or project, or studying for a test. Schedule specific times throughout the week for study time.
  • Try to have the same study time each day. This will help to establish a routine that becomes a regular part of life, just like sleeping and eating. When a scheduled study time comes up during the day, children will be mentally prepared to begin studying. Motivate your child to set specific goals. Goals will help them to stay focused.
  • Tell their friends not to call them during their study time. Two problems can occur if friends call during study times. First of all, work is interrupted. It is not that easy to get back to what they were doing. Secondly, friends may talk about things that will distract them from what they need to do. Encourage them to turn off the cellphone during study times.
  • Review their schoolwork over the weekend. Weekends should be fun time. But they are also time to do some reviewing. This will help your child be ready to go to school on Monday morning when the new school week begins.
